Shingles are the most widely installed roofing material in the country for good reason. They are durable, affordable, and come in a wide range of styles and colors to match your home.

Shingles have been the standard roofing material for pitched homes in the United States for decades. Today's shingles are better than what was installed 20 or 30 years ago. New shingle technology withstands wind and hail a lot better than before.
For most Albuquerque homeowners with a pitched roof, shingles are a reliable, proven choice.
Shingles give you a durable, long-lasting roof at a price point that makes sense for most budgets. You get real protection and the peace of mind that comes with it.
Shingles come in a wide range of colors. Whether you want something classic or something that stands out, there is an option that fits your home and your taste.
Today's shingles are stronger than ever before. With new technology they handle hail and wind a lot better than older generations of shingles.

Shingle roofs last between 15-30 years depending on the quality and style. Once shingles reach the end of their lifetime, they will start to get more issues. Here is what to look for.

As the roof gets older it starts to weaken. The adhesive holding the layers of shingles will begin to lose its grip. Then the shingles get damaged easily with moderate winds. Leading to blown shingles even with moderate winds.
Granules are the top layer that protects your shingles from the sun and weather. When granules start washing off in large amounts, you will see them collecting in your gutters or on the ground below. Without the granules the asphalt in the shingles starts to wear out and crack with sunlight.
Waterstains on your ceiling after rain are a sign your roof is leaking. By the time water shows up inside, the damage has usually been building for a while. If this happens in multiple areas it can mean the shingles are damaged throughout the entire roof.
Even a well-maintained shingle roof has a lifespan. Older shingle roofs last between 15-25 years depending on the quality of the material. In New Mexico, the intense sun and temperature swings can put additional wear on the shingles. If your roof is around 20 years old, and has some of these issues, it may be time to consider a replacement.
