Blue Bear Roofing specializes in TPO flat roof replacements across Albuquerque and central New Mexico. Every full replacement is backed by our written workmanship warranty.
TPO is one of the most durable flat roofing systems available for New Mexico homes. It handles heat, strong sun, and rain better than asphalt based materials.

TPO stands for Thermoplastic Polyolefin. It is a large rolled up sheet of roofing membrane that gets cut to size and heat-welded where it overlaps, creating a watertight surface with no gaps or weak points.
The TPO membrane is only the top part of a flat roofing system. A proper TPO roof also includes insulation installed below the membrane. This insulation can be tapered towards the drains, so water moves off the roof instead of pooling on it. It also keeps your home better insulated from the outside climate year-round.
Many flat-roofed homes in New Mexico built before the 2000's were installed with little to no slope. Without slope, water pools and stays on the roof for days at a time. This is how leaks start on old roofs, leading to patches on top of patches.
For these homes, we install tapered insulation in special patterns beneath the TPO. The tapered insulation guides water off of your roof. This stops the pooling that causes most flat roof leaks in the first place.
Most flat roof leaks happen on low spots where water pools. The pooling water wears out the roof material faster and water eventually finds a way through.
Water drains off of your roof the way it should. The tapered insulation removes low spots that lead to pooling water and leaks.
The insulation layer beneath the membrane works year-round, not just when it rains. Cooler summers, warmer winters, and lower energy bills over time.
TPO seams are fused with heat, not glued. That makes them stronger than the rest of the membrane. They will not separate, peel, or fail over time. Once they are welded, they stay sealed.
Get it done right once and you are set for decades to come. No more repair cycles. No more patching the same spots over and over again.

Flat roofs do not fail all at once. They give you warning signs first. Here is what to look for.

Flat roofs typically last 15 to 20 years. If your roof is around that age, have it inspected yearly to find issues early. Depending on the condition, you may consider a proactive replacement to avoid problems in the near future.
Cracks and bubbles in the surface are signs that your roof is drying out and becoming weak in those areas. In New Mexico this happens faster than most places due to the strong sun and temperature changes.
When leaks start showing up in new spots each year, the roof is deteriorating across the whole surface, not just in one place.
A few repairs over time is normal. But when you are calling a roofer every year, or every season, the repair costs start adding up. Fast.
TPO is not the right roof for every home. But for the right situation, it is one of the best long-term investments you can make. Here is who it works best for:

See what they had to say when their TPO roof was completed.
"Replaced my TPO roof on time with no surprises. They showed up every day at exactly the time they said they would. The entire crew was great. I've been around noisy, disorganized and chaotic crews before and they were the exact opposite. They hummed along like a well oiled machine and performed flawlessly. I highly recommend this family run business to anyone in the greater Albuquerque area."
